As a pet owner, I’m always on the lookout for affordable pet supplies. It’s no secret that pet products can be pricey, which can be quite frustrating. For example, dog shampoo is often two to four times more expensive than the shampoo I buy for myself! Whether you have a dog or a cat, the cost of toys can quickly add up since they tend to wear through them fast. Since starting our pet-sitting business a few years ago and welcoming our own dog back into our home, I’ve been more determined than ever to find good quality pet supplies that don’t break the bank.
When it comes to shopping for pet supplies, online platforms like Amazon often come to mind first. While Amazon sometimes offers competitive prices, I’ve found that other retail stores often beat Amazon’s prices on a wide range of pet items. There are four specific retail outlets that stand out for their affordability.
The best deals can vary depending on where you live, but these four stores are definitely worth checking out: TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, and HomeGoods. These stores frequently offer a variety of pet products at great prices. It’s also a bonus when two of these stores are located in the same shopping center. HomeGoods might seem like an unusual choice, but it often has a fantastic selection of pet supplies at reasonable prices.
Here’s a rough idea of what I typically find at these stores:
– TJ Maxx: Dog beds, dog shampoo, healthy treats, collars, balls, and durable chew toys.
– Marshalls: Chew toys, healthy treats, balls, and dog clothes.
– Ross: Dog and cat treats, along with some dog clothes.
– HomeGoods: Dog and cat beds (including unique designs), treats, bowls, dog clothes, and chew bones.
While availability can vary, I usually manage to find what I need without going over budget.
For those who prefer shopping online, Chewy is an excellent option. So far, I’ve found almost all the training tools necessary for dog walks, including harnesses, Sprengner collars, Gentle Leaders, and 3.5-foot training leashes on Chewy. In addition, I buy beds, blankets, toys, and even our puppy’s food, especially during sales.
My go-to trick on Chewy is to add items I’m interested in to my cart and then check back after a few days to see if any have been discounted.
That being said, even though Chewy is my primary go-to, I’ve occasionally found better deals on Amazon. For instance, I recently bought the Dexas MudBuster Portable Paw Washer on Amazon because it was cheaper there. This tool is fantastic for cleaning paws, and it’s always smart to shop around for the best deals.
In summary, there are plenty of stores and online platforms where you can find high-quality pet products without spending too much. The stores I recommend checking out include TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, HomeGoods, Chewy, and Amazon. Exploring these options should help you get all your pet’s necessities without significantly draining your wallet.
