Online shopping has a lot of perks compared to going to physical stores, but it also comes with some risks, like the potential theft of personal data. Cybercriminals have been exploiting a security flaw in about 71,000 e-commerce websites, putting customer information, including stored credit card details, at risk.
These vulnerabilities are mainly found on the Magento platform, which supports roughly a third of all online stores, according to the Israel-based security firm Check Point Software Technologies. The company warns that attackers could gain access to all the credit card information stored in these systems.
