In the near future, you could become a shareholder of the pet retail giant, Petco. On Monday, Petco Holdings Inc. filed for its third initial public offering (IPO) in the past 30 years. The company, based in San Diego, left the public markets in 2006 through a significant $1.8 billion leveraged buyout led by Leonard Green & Partners and Texas Pacific Group.
The documents Petco submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission don’t mention which exchange they plan to list on or how many shares they intend to sell. The main underwriters for the offering are Goldman Sachs & Co., BofA Merrill Lynch, and J.P. Morgan, a development that was initially rumored earlier this summer.
