Amazon is making some changes to its Prime program to boost the number of items eligible for free delivery for its subscribers. Tom Cook, an Amazon representative, shared that the new plan will allow retailers to ship more items through Prime without facing the high costs of nationwide shipping for certain products. This is possible thanks to services like contact packaging, which provide bulk shipping tape and packing machines, helping companies like Amazon offer free shipping while still making a profit. Restricting free Prime shipping to specific areas may also motivate businesses to offer free shipping on items that previously had shipping fees.
